I'm curious about folks who have teams in other leagues. Do your rosters there resemble your BCMBL one?
I'm in one other sim league, in the WLSB. I'm the Rockies, headed into my 2nd season. Took over a team with a great young system but that had been below .500 for years; it seems the last GM wasn't willing to trade his young guys to get into contention. In my first year, I traded out guys like Brett Anderson, Chris Carter, Lars Anderson & Tommy Hanson, but brought in guys like Chad Billingsley, Mike Napoli, Kelvim Escobar, etc. I ended up w/ like 95 wins, but ended up just outside the wild card. I think my team's much stronger now. The only guys I inherited that are still on the squad are Longoria, Tulowitzki, S. Downs, P. Feliciano, W. Joaquin, D. Veal, J. Koshansky. Everyone else I brought in.
Heading into free agency, I've got 30 million to spend, and two big holes in the rotation to fill; I also need a swing man and most of a bench.
2010 Lineup
position | name | ba/obp/slg / ZiPS OPS+ | Defensive range
SS Troy Tulowitzki | 280/355/487 | 117 OPS+ | AV LF David Dejesus | 285/357/435 | 107 OPS+ | EX 3B Evan Longoria | 272/351/525 | 131 OPS+ | EX 1B Prince Fielder | 299/412/602 (2009 actual) RF Nelson Cruz | 270/342/512 | 116 OPS+ | AV C Mike Napoli | 272/350/492 (2009 actual) 2B Kelly Johnson | 279/352/472 | 108 OPS+ | FR CF Ryan Raburn | 266/332/470 | 111 OPS+ | AV
Bench: 1B/OF Shelley Duncan | 252/328/460 | 109 OPS+ OF Endy Chavez | 275/322/356 | 82 OPS+ (EX range at all 3 OF positions) LH bat ____________ Middle infield __________ Backup C __________
2010 Rotation | ERA | ERA+
1. Chad Billingsley | 3.34 | 126 ERA+ 2. ___________ 3. Ben Sheets 4. Kelvim Escobar 5. ____________
Bullpen
CL Scott Downs SU Jason Bulger MR Pedro Feliciano | 3.92 | 110 ERA+ MR/Swingman Casey Janssen LR Tyler Clippard | 4.01 | 108 ERA+ LR _____________ Mopup Ryan Speier | 4.84 | 98 ERA+
Farm:
Stephen Strasburg | 4.18 | 103 ERA+ Martin Perez | 5.76 | 81 ERA+ Dee Gordon | Brett Jackson | Donald Veal | 6.24 | 68 ERA+ Waldis Joaquin | 4.76 | 91 ERA+
It's pretty fun to have this team and the Cardinals at different points in the success cycle; I feel I'm pretty well set up for a good five year run with the Rockies, especially if I can keep my payroll down enough to sign Prince, Longoria, Tulo & perhaps Billingsley to long term contracts.
The league doesn't go off of real life health, but randomizes it, so Sheets & Escobar are much more valuable in the sim than they are in real life.
I'm not sure if anyone in this league is in the other league; if not, I'll probably discuss my strategy going into free agency.
My offseason:
Traded Wade Davis, Wilson Ramos & Casper Wells for Prince Fielder (two more years until free agency, making 6 mil).
Traded Alberto Callaspo (4 years from free agency, making about .5 mil) for Kelly Johnson (2 years from free agency, making about 1.8 mil).
Traded Luke Scott (last year of contract, making app 5 mil) & Samuel Deduno for David Dejesus (signed thru 2012 at 5 mil).
Traded Andrew Bailey & Sean West for Nelson Cruz (5 years until free agency).
Traded Gil Meche (last year of contract, 5 mil) for 3rd round pick (Brett Jackson).
Traded Lars Anderson, Delmon Young, Michael Main & picks 2.16 & 3.16 for pick 1.1 (Stephen Strasburg).
Traded Kyle Skipworth for Casper Wells.
Anyway.

what league is this? and are their openings? Yeah seriously, now that's something I'm interested in. It's time consuming, but that's a whole different tizzy. However, I doubt there's openings in something like that just because it's so in depth that you get committed gms right away anyways... ~~~~ I've been in various other leagues, but no team really compares to this one for me. IBC was my first ever league and I was awful because I had no idea what I was doing. Towards the end of that I moved to this and still made dumb trades (ugh, I miss Grady Sizemore). But I've also restructured things to make up for it. Tex is the only guy I've got left here that I started with. The WIBL was fun, but the whole structure shake up left me bored with it. Although I did have a good young rotation... The IYFBL was short lived just because I had no time to commit. I liked my team. They were okay. I seem to always draft hitting and never pitching and know now that pitching means more to me, and focus better on D. I guess if I had to join another league, which I'm probably looking to do now that I've got a career path finally, the ideal league I'd be looking to join is probably a salary league simply because I've never done it before and it's a nice wrinkle. If I actually understood the dmb program I'd almost certainly be interested in trying to create a league (not be commish though, I'm not one for power, but I like creating and handing the reins over) or at least join some sort of league where entire player pools are thrown together and it's just as massive draft. No team you pick has any advantage over any other team since you're all drafting from the same player pool. I wasn't around when any of these leagues started so I don't know how those were done. I just think it'd be fun to be the Pirates and draft Sabathia or something with the 17th pick. (How draft pick order got created, I don't quite know, but there's probably randomizers out there)

I'm in 4 or 5 leagues. The teams are all built very similar (sans CBA).
I'm the most proud of my IBC team, even though the team has not won anything, but I built that team from nothing.
2nd, I love the BCMBL. I was handed a pretty good team to start with, so the pride level may not be quite as high, but I'm still very happy with the moves I did to improve an already good team. After some good moves, we headed out West.
Everyone thought I was crazy to move to San Diego, in arguably the toughest divison in BCMBL. We got there and won the Sweaty Balls tourney, then won the NL-West (107 Wins), but the loss of Grady Sizemore to injury was too much to overcome in the playoffs.
I'm extremely excited about the IYFBL this year. Last year we changed over to SIM only players. It made last years draft boring, but made a huge payoff this year, as we will be drafting new players to the Zips, i.e. Strasberg, Alvarez, Posey, Ackley, etc.
All my teams are built very similar, as I tend to trade for players I like. Example, I've like Carlos Gonzalez for years, so I had him in 4 leagues. Long before I got into SIM, Mark Teixeira had been my favorite young player, so he was the first foundation piece I traded for in IBC and IYFBL. I tried for him here, but Matty was not letting him go, so I 'settled' for Prince (for Loney & others).

Loney Got a great ZIP this year, Im still somewhat shocked. Id still move him in a heartbeat for the EX power guys like Tex,Prince,A.Gonzo etc. But I would have to make it a somewhat bigger deal in order to compensate for Loney's lack of power at a position that has been known to harvest EX power numbers.

I'd be happy with Loney, especially in your park, and considering this thread kinda shows Teix & Prince are probably not going anywhere (Loney was traded 'away' for Prince afterall). I remember Gonzo being shopped heavy and finally traded, but then traded again just months later. But after your very nice "Trade Breakdown", the chance of getting Gonzo, probably just got that much tougher. ;D 8th Deal: OAK/TOROakland gets: Adrian Gonzalez-1B/Howie Kendrick-2B/Rafael Furcal-SS/Chad Durbin-P/Toronto's 3rd Rnd Pick Toronto gets: Dustin Pedrioa-2B/Michael Young-SS/Noland Reimold-LF/Scott Downs-PBreakdown; Oakland:Winner! It might have came at the cost of DP, Michael Young and a possible R.O.Y candidate but Oakland emerges victorious in this deadline deal. Adding 2 solid bats in Furcal & Kendrick and 1 power threat in Adrian Gonzalez. At this point in time i wouldn't want to be the M's or the Angels, LOOK OUT! OAKLAND LOCKED UP THE DIVISION!Breakdown; Toronto:LoserToronto swaps DP combos in hopes of a youth resurgence, this deadline deal may not pay dividends this season but watch out for Dem BJs next season.

Aw Jagger...I'm the idiot that should've traded Tex for Pujols, but didn't...so I guess I'm never moving Tex unless I get super wowed...or it involves Lince (hint hint Dave!)

I didn't know about Teix/Pujols, I've never had a shot at Pujols, outside of 'roto-ball'.

is the IYFBL still around? It sure is, we are just waiting for the final Zips to get done, then we will have a draft.

I'm in two other leagues where I'm particularly engaged. I just joined the CBA last spring, so the roster is still about 60% holdovers from before me. The other is in the IBC, where I've had my team since 2005, so instead of it being loaded mostly with prospects like here, the major league roster is filled with established guys. I will say that, though my team here hasn't received nearly the attention that the IBC one has, it does sort of resemble that one 2-3 years ago.

I am in six leagues...it would take way too long for me to recap them all, but I have spreadsheets with every sim league move I have made since 2006. I had four teams make the playoffs last year and only one of them advanced past the first round. It makes you realize how special a championship is. Flags fly forever, and I have yet to claim my first one.

I'm currently in six leagues as well, plus a hockey sim league. I've won championships in two of the leagues (IYFBL, CBA), and I'm waiting for the chance to win a third (GBL...cough cough - Dave). This is my third go round in the BCMBL, and I was a co-founder of the WIBL with John. I'm also in the IBC, and my team is borderline miserable in that league.

I'm in two other leagues...the CBA (with Jason, as an assistant GM) and the GBL (where I am commish).
Won my first CBA and BCMBL titles this year....
In the GBL, I've won three titles with another chance coming...this is the 13th year I have been in that league. It's funny, because the years when I had my best teams, I didn't usually win, but I've been more fortunate in years where my team was an underdog or co-favorite.
BTW, there are one or two openings in the GBL, if anyone is interested. We play our games and use the real life season disk from the previous year.
Was in the (defunct?) WIBL, and lost in the championship series there last year.
Also in two hockey leagues, where I've won a total of 3 championships, and one hoops league, where I've won one championship.

For those in the WIBL, I have been swamped, but we really don't have a lot of offseason action due to the format, so if there is enough interest when I send out an e-mail soon...I am going to rip it back to life. I should have been more forthcoming.

Ah memories.
I got recruited off of the ESPN Twins Message board when the Twins opened up in the PJBA (by Walter?).
That must've been '02 or '03. BCMBL spun off of PJBA and I was a founder here (though I started with Baltimore before heading west after the first season). I remember causing some waves picking Mauer something like 15th overall when he hadn't played in the majors yet. I promptly failed miserably by taking Oliver Perez with my 2nd pick.
WIBL spun off of this league where I was a founder, and I joined CBA as an expansion team last year. The expansion part of that has been fun, putting together a team from other's rejects. Plus the salary components have been a fun change.
I do seem to grab some of the same players league to league. Brandon League, Cody Ross, Carlos Rosa, AJ Burnett, Matt Capps, Danny Dorn and David Dejesus have all overlapped in a couple leagues for me over the last year.

I've been in PJBL (dodgers at the end), WIBL, IBC, BCMBL, WWBL, IYFBL, FOTFP & CBA...I think that's it!
Here's my IYFBL team, which I built from the initial draft (IYFBL spun off when Erik T. chased away founding members such as Rich and Pat Bishop, etc.)
Mets
Lineup:
David DeJesus CF Hanley Ramirez SS David Wright 3B Manny Ramirez LF Milton Bradley RF Adam Laroche 1B Jorge Posada C Kelly Johnson 2B Pitcher
Bench: Carlos Gomez OF Gabe Kapler OF Ryan Raburn INF/OF Ty Wigginton Util Aki Iwamura Inf (injured) Chris Denorfia OF Mark Johnson C
Rotation: CC Sabathia John Lackey Ervin Santana Juan Cruz Clay Buccholz
Bullpen: JJ Putz CL Mo-Rivera SU Mike Gonzalez SU Dan Wheeler MR Justin Miller MR Pedro Feliciano MR Jesse Crain MR
The Rest: Dominic Brown OF Keiichi Yabu SP/RP Brandon Knight SP/RP Todd Coffey RP Joe Nelson RP Justin Hampson MR JP Arrencibia C David Freese 3B James McDonald SP/RP Brad Penny SP Carl Pavano SP
The Draft: Anthony Rizzo 1B
Obviously needs cleaning up this offseason.... BTW, I've won the NL East every season in the league, and have zero WS rings....losing a game 7 that was fixed by then commish Rich Bishop when his computer "Froze" during h2h and I was winning, then we had to SIM the game from scratch, and CC got blown out...go figure.
IYFBL was also my when I first came to know JT. We had been in IBC together, but it wasn't until he traded me David Wright for my whole farm system that we became SIM buds.
IYFBL Mets: 2009: 103-59, NL East Champs 2008: 111-51, NL East Champs 2007: 99-63, National League Champs 2006: 85-77, NL East Champs ............................................. Total: 398 - 250, .614%

Oh, man...you mean Erik isn't the ONLY one to have had the game "freeze up" on him during a game 7?!? It's amazing how often the game freezes up during game 7's, hahaha
