Just curious to see what the league thought about this rumor. I found the rumor stupefying. I'd give up those 4 in a second for Halladay and the supposed rumor (for whatever its worth) has the Jays offering and the Mets declining.
I'd be willing to bet, even with all the prospect whores in this league that people would take Halladay 2 to 1.
And if you're not one of them, and have a guy like Halladay, come talk to me. I'll give you a package like that one for him and even throw in a draft pick.

Looks likely Halladay will move in the BCMBL this season if not MLB.
If you don't have an offer in yet, join the 12 teams that do.

As a Mets fan, I will comment.
I don't make this trade because the Mets biggest issue is their Minor League Depth....poor drafts coupled with injuries at the major league level have been their reason for not making the playoffs.
Guys at the major league roster go down, guys in the minors who should not be in the majors get called up...guys in the low minors who aren't ready get pushed through the system, and everyone suffers.
Would I like to have Halladay, sure, but Halladay won't get them in the playoffs when they're losing every game 4-1.
If anything, they need to be collecting minor league talent, and taking some of the pressure off at both the major league and low minor league levels....
Also, Parnell has been a huge arm in the pen this season....losing him creates another hole on days that Halladay doesn't pitch.
When your team is starting Jeremy Reed, Alex Cora, Fernando Tatis, Omir Santos & Daniel Murphy on an every day basis, you have bigger needs than an Ace SP.

Absolutely agree with John. Of course while I do like Parnell, I don't like him that much and am not a bliever in his potential relieving. He'll get plenty of work every year out of the pen, but I just don't see him blowing people away like Hughes is outta the pen across town.
The rest stands though, we have no minor league depth and need as much as we can, rather than trading just so we can be 3rd or 2nd in the East and not 4th (and still missing the WC by a lot)
And sure it might look good next year with a healthy team, but it's not worth losing the rest of our poor system.
