Lineup:
1. Randy Winn (S) - LF .293/.346/.442 in 110 games VG D in LF
2. B.J. Upton (R) - CF .289/.375/.472 w/ 24 HR, 35 SB
3. Mark Tiexeria (S) - 1B .301/.396/.541 w/ 30 HR, VG D @ 1st
4. Aramis Ramirez (R) - 3B .307/.365/.565 w/ 34 HR, 40 2B
5. Delmon Young (R) - RF .299/.325/.433 w/ 15 SB
6. Mark DeRosa (R) - 2B .293/.367/.434 w/ 13 HR, 37 2B
7. Josh Phelps (R) - C .303/.378/.485 in 66 AB's
8. Ibanez/Jeff Baker (DH)
9. Jason Bartlett (R) - SS .271/.338/.365 w/ 19 SB, 82 R, VG D at SS
Bench:
SS - Bobby Crosby (R)
C - Jose Morales (R)
OF - Endy Chavez (L) - Defensive Replacement
A lot better than last year's team. High average guys with great power in the middle. Hope no one gets hurt. I think this lineup can run with anyone.
Rotation:
1. John Lackey (R) 9-6 3.66 112 K in 130 inn.
2. Erik Bedard (L) 17-7 3.00 235 K in 215 inn.
3. Brad Penny (R) 12-9 3.88 137 K in 195 inn.
4. Gil Meche (R) 11-10 4.37 147 K in 193 inn.
5. Kenny Rogers (L) 11-11 4.60 102 K in 195 inn.
Bullpen:
CL - Rafael Soriano (R) 4-2 2.90, 33 SV
SU - Chad Cordero (R) 2-4 4.19, 25 SV
SU - Brandon Lyon (R) 4-4 3.96, 25 SV
MR - Ruddy Lugo (R) 1-1 3.63
MR - Justin Miller (R) 3-2 3.58, 2 SV
MR - Al Reyes (R) 2-5, 4.44, 2 SV
LR - Nick Blackburn (R) 9-8 4.30
It's a solid rotation for sure, especially when Lackey gets back. Mussina/Laffey/Blackburn will all move around from starter to reliever depending on if someone (probably Rogers) is slumping. Mussina got a really surprising sim and I don't know what to do with him. The Bullpen is set to shut folks down. Miller/Lyon/Cordero/Soriano is hard for any team to score on. Just need Lugo and Reyes to keep steady.
Farm System (not much of one):
Alfredo Amezaga - UTIL
Aaron Laffey - SP/RP
Brian Horwitz - OF
John Bowker - OF
Burke Badenhop - SP/RP
Julio DePaula - RP
Duaner Sanchez - RP
Mike Mussina - SP
Adam Moore - C/1B
Miguel Montero - C
Matt Tolbert - 2B/3B/SS
Craig Brazell - 1B
Some useful guys here, especially sim-wise with Badenhop and Mussina. Sanchez could see time if Reyes or Lugo start sucking in the 'pen. Bowker and Horwitz are personal favorites, and both got great sims average-wise. An injury in the OF won't hurt that much with them.
1- guys, for now at least:
Matthew Buschmann - SP
Josh Reddick - OF
Alan Johnson - SP
Jordan Parraz - OF
Matt Torra - SP
Kevin Whelan - RP
Not much here. A few decent kids, some guys that just have gaudy stats but maybe not the tools to make it. I just wish Whelan would have gotten a sim.
08 Draft:
Brett Cecil - LHP TOR
Wendell Fairley - OF SFG
Nevin Griffith - RHP CWS
Jonathan Lucroy - C MIL
Jeremy Hefner - RHP SDP
A decent mix here. I don't mind if Cecil is a starter or a reliever, I just made the safe choice with him and hope he pans out. Fairley is the reach that I love. He's got tools, if he puts it together I'll be happy. Griffth and Lucroy are solid guys but are probably a long way away. Hefner was a random guy, he'll probably be dropped for some other kid early in the season.
