It's getting there. Going to need some offseason activity to get it into a better place. You know I'm always up for that...

Overall pretty happy with the squad. Could use some prospect depth, but many of my starters are prospects, so I'm not as thin as it may seem. Good young pitching staff and some decent hitters/fields in the lineup. Pen still a work in progress, but picking up Brothers and Rondon will be a nice lefty/righty combo in the 8th and 9th innings.

Updated after a flurry of trades. It's been a very big offseason for the BCMBL Indians. After minidrafting an ok team, I spent all season trying to deal away the good MLB talent I drafted (Hudson, Nolasco, Nicasio, Craig, Holliday) and turn that into top-tier prospects. I did that because this league allowed Minnesota to be ridiculously talented and I figured that going young was the only chance I had at not being a .500 team for the foreseeable future. The cornerstone deal of the offseason was moving Masahiro Tanaka for Mark Appel and Miguel Sano. Sano is a monster power hitter (elbow issues aside) and Appel is a projected #2 SP. I love that deal. Going into the offseason, I was planning on a Zimmermann, Tanaka, Corbin trio atop my rotation, but being able to make major investments in top prospects proved too tempting. I've been able to pick up quite a few guys off the top 50 list, including Sano, Castellanos, Appel, Glasnow, Singleton and Marisnick. I was also able to use the depth I've piled up to snag Justin Upton, a long-time favorite. He pushes Michael Choice to the bench and provides a middle-of-the-order bat who's still only 26. He's the type of guy you try to get if he becomes available, so I did. I had to give up a haul, but I love him in my lineup. I definitely feel the offense is more advanced currently than the pitching at this stage (a reversal from my pre-offseason team), but I have enough arms to dream on: Appel, Giolito, Glasnow, Nicolino, Ranaudo, Montero, etc. I've solved my 1B problem, picked up some catching depth and have a nice CF to stabilize the defense up the middle. If those arms come through, I'll be in very good shape after next season. And snagging a couple nice young reliever arms sets up the pen behind Brothers and Rondon. I'm very happy with the shape the team is in at this point.

Blockbuster finally announced for the Nats and Indians. I dealt away beloved outfielder Justin Upton to help the Nationals make their run to the World Series. I was pretty hesitant to deal Upton because I gave up a lot of talent to get him and he's only 27 this year. However, I was able to get back two high-end prospects. If they both click, I think this turns into a victory. If only one does, it's probably a loss. Syndergaard has the potential to be a stout #2 starter for more than a decade and everything I read out of Mets camp says that he has a strong future, likely as a #3 behind Harvey and Wheeler in that rotation. Frazier has a monster bat as a teenager and could develop into a middle of the order left fielder who can steal a few bases (much like Upton). He obviously has a ways to go, but if he adapts well to more advanced pitching, he could become a top 25 prospect by this time next year. All reports indicate he has the approach to succeed and if he does, he should be top-notch. Tropeano is a nice toss-in and a guy who has had success as a starter who can get strikeouts.

A last-hour deadline deal sent Billy Hamilton packing after only a few weeks on the squad. The return was a nice one, as I picked up David Dahl, the new Indians' future CF, Marco Gonzales, a solid lefty starter (#3 ceiling) and a projected top 10 draft pick. This gives the Indians potentially five top 15 picks in next year's draft. Anyone ready for the draft?
