we figured he'd get the hint when he stopped receiving a paycheck...turns out he was sleeping in the showers and didn't have a home.
Oh well. Security has taken care of the situation. Roster at 49.

I think the rule is that Latroy Hawkins doesnt go on 24 hour waivers until Admin recognizes the releasing, which was at 8:12 last night... He should be on waivers until 8:12 tonight and then you can sign him... I was thinking about putting in a claim for him myself..

Hmm... I don't think that's the rule as currently written in the constitution, but I see some logic in that.
Admin's what's the ruling here? If needed I can spend my waiver spot for this signing. Should the 24 hour clock start with the releasing or with admin acknowledgement of the oringinal transaction?
I pull this trick all the time (waiting 24.5 hours and then signing a player) so I have a vested interest. In the past I've always done 24 from releasing, but I can roll with whatever.

This has to be the way this is applied ... in effect, the releasing team announces the intention to release but the Administrator makes it official ... same as a signing.

It has always been 24 hours since he was released.
For consistency reasons, it's not fair to have some guys on waivers for 24 hours and others for 94 hours just because the database administrator is away for a couple of days.
We can look into changing it, but it's always been 24 hours since the minute the release was posted by the GM.
We could probably make it 48 hours, but again, I don't want the admin's absence to hold up signings and claims.
Just an FYI, some of these rules (such as this one and the Rule V) were grandfathered in from the Erik days, so everything is open to discussion.

That sucks... I probably would have used my waiver on him, but definitely would have signed him 24 hours and 1 minute after he was released.. Oh well...

Yes, seems to me that using the rule that the timing would be dictated by admin would seem to be a little sloppy and inconsistent and dependent on us being on the ball all the time, which is not the case in the off season.
Only way it really makes sense, and the only way its always been done as far as I know, is by starting the clock by when he is released.
