Anyone notice that a ton of recent reports keep getting refuted? For example, the Renteria signing. Is it crappy reporting, or what?

The Sports Media is hurting right now.
No one cares about Basketball or Hockey, Football hasn't been lighting it up with T.O. stories...it's so competitive, that they're all desperate to break a story, so ethics and research fall by the wayside.
This is my personal fav:
"Lastly, over the weekend, Rafael Furcal told El Caribe that the A’s and Mets each offered him a contract.
However, later in the day, his agent told Yahoo! Sports the report was ‘bogus.’"

I'm actually the Editor of two web sites. One is a sports site for my college, located at www.oneontasports.com, and the other is my Rangers' Blog (Hockey) located at www.dailystache.net. Feel free to send me feedback.

Its funny, his agent contacted me after he had read some brutal feedback on tangotiger's website. They were basically calling for the player's union to revoke his agent status. Of course, thats what message board critics do. Important thing is that they obviously weren't privy to all the information out there and Mark's happy.
